English version: Toletum — a journey through three cultures Toletum is the Roman name for Toledo — a name that places the city in its deepest dimension: not the tourist Toledo of the present, but the city as a stratigraphy of civilizations. Roman, Visigothic, Arab, Jewish and Christian layers rest one upon another in the same stone, the same street, the same light. This project is not a monumental catalogue of a historic city. It is a personal reading of Toledo as a place where several worlds still coexist — sometimes in the same wall, the same courtyard, the same shadow. The image searches for the texture of time, not the postcard. I photographed the interior light of mosque-cathedrals, synagogues and courtyards — spaces where light falls in a way that seems to suspend time itself. I photographed what remains when the tourists leave: empty streets, the city breathing on its own. The name Toletum is an anchor. It reminds the viewer that what we see carries more layers than the eye registers at first glance — that a single stone can hold Rome, Islam and medieval Castile at once, still legible to whoever knows how to look.
